GOLDEN BUTTERFLIES

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup All purpose flour
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
3 tbsp. Sesame Seeds
1/2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
!/4 tsp. Baking Powder
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. cooking oil
1 tsp. water
Cooking Oil for Deep Frying
Sifted Powdered Sugar (optional)
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, powdered sugar
sesame seeds, cinnamon and baking powder.
Stir in the eggs, oil and water
On a lightly floured surface, knead dough until smooth.
Cover the dough, set aside for 2o minutes. Divide
dough into four portions.
On a floured surface, roll 1 portion of dough to form
a 10X5 rectangle, lifting the dough often to reflour
the surface. Cover. Let the dough rest for 10 minutes
Repeat with remaining dough. Cut each rectangle into
5 inch long strips.
To form Butterflies, lay one dough strip on top of one another.
Make a 2-inch slit down the center of both strips. Pull one
end of the sandwiched strips through the center slit to make
a twisted pastry. Lay finished pastry on liaghtly floured
baking sheet. Deep fry.
